Dist 21 February Minutes

 

Our meeting was called to order at 1:30p.m. at Dad's in Charlotte . The Pledge of Allegiance was held followed by a moment of silence for our lost brother's and sister's. There were 28 members present, 3 guests and 1 new member: Chris "Shadow" Schork. Welcome to district 21 Shadow!!

 

SECRETARY'S REPORT: Motion was made by Roberta to skip last month's minutes with the exception of a humorous article read submitted by Dan Cunningham. All in favor. Motion Carried. (I still chuckle thinkin of it!)

 

TREASURER'S REPORT: Elvira gave full report on Down Biker and checking account funds. M/C

 

PAC REPORT: Roberta passed and collected can for Dimes For D.C. M/C

 

INVENTORY REPORT: I now have been passed the responsibility of inventory and there are still plenty of Rodeo shirts available along with a handful of A.B.A.T.E of Iowa  shirts and Memorial Rodeo patches. I will try to have inventory out at all meetings and events. In addition to what is available, i will be looking into ordering or pay as you go long sleeve shirts in the future.

 

LEGISLATIVE REPORT: Sponge reminded everyone of Lobby Day this Thursday, Feb.25th in Des Moines . Also reported on the bill that involved motorcycles with extra side wheels on the back to be classified as motorcycles. Quads,3-wheelers are separate. The bill for children under 12yrs of age not allowed as passengers on a motorcycle hasn't gone through, but is something to not dismiss. Also, there is a bill looking into having all counties in Iowa comply with specific standards for permitting a C.C.W. Report Accepted.

 

NEW BUSINESS: Our Cabin Fever Party was held last night with a great turnout of supporters. Thank you to everyone who participated!! All donations went to PAC. Door prize donations were announced and greatly appreciated.

 

Raffle tickets for Freedom Rally are available. See Fred if interested.

 

Raffle tickets for our district are also available as well. You can pick them up from Tramp. Drawing will be Sat. August 21st @ 10p.m. at the Miles, Memorial Rodeo. 1st prize:50" flat screen T.V, 2nd prize: WII & 3rd prize: $100 gift cert. for any Harley dealer.

 

Two Wheel Trauma is April 3,2010 at Genesis.

 

Tonya is currently working on the addition of a projector for Share The Road program. When this becomes available, information and points of interest will be displayed more conveniently in more places.

 

Pro's and Con's have been discussed concerning our district meetings being held at one place. With a lengthy amount of discussion, a motion was made by Dan to keep it the same for 1 year. Motion denied. Shades motioned to keep it the same for 6 months, Dan 2nd, 5 in favor & 7 opposed. Motion Denied. Tramp then motioned to keep meetings in the same place every 3 months, 2nd by Stacy, All in favor. Motion Passed. (WHEW!) A different supporting business will be chosen for April, July and October. This will be out next month for the entire year.

 

OLD BUSINESS: Considering this was a Rodeo meeting, it was discussed and decided that a Rodeo committee will be responsible for all arrangements involving our annual Miles Memorial Rodeo. Ten members volunteered for the position. This should alleviate time and confusion during regular meetings. A Rodeo mtg. was held following district mtg.

 

A motion was made by Tramp to accept the T-shirt design by Ringo, 2nd by Shades. All in favor. Design will be presented at next months state mtg.

 

A motion was made by Jepy to have only black and silver Rodeo shirts in honor of our 20th anniversary. 2nd by Kim. All in favor. Motion carried.

 

A motion was made by Randy to have Big House Band sat. night, 2nd by Shades. All in favor. Motion carried.

 

May 21st-23rd is the Miles Riverboat Days. Our district will have an A.B.A.T.E booth set up there then. If anyone would like to help, let me know.

 

RODEO COMMITTEE REPORT: All details and aspects for this event were discussed and agreed upon by committee members:

-Friday gates will open. Hayrack ride will start Friday evening. Wristbands must be visible for re-admitting the grounds.

-Main food vendor will be provided by Alvin and Deb Graves.

-A sign-up sheet for gate duty will be put out for volunteers. Remember, this event is a great time, but members participation is a vital attribution!

-Fun Run sign up will be Saturday @ 10a.m. on the Rodeo grounds. It will be a 4-stop run to supporting businesses with last bike in by 3:30p.m. Events to follow.

-Events will be held with plenty of time before band starts.

-Band starts at 9p.m.

-Signs, banners, posters and flyers will be out by June. Half of page ad in freeway flyer will be ran in June and July's issue.

 

We want to Thank everyone for coming out and express our appreciation for a well run meeting!!  Thank's to Dad's for having us there as well. Hope to see you all at the next one!
