Senator Charles Grassley is hosting a town hall meeting in your area and wants to hear from you. If you want to help protect trail riding, this is an opportunity you don't want to miss. Senator Grassley is a senior member of the Senate Budget Committee and has significant authority to influence the final budget bill sent to the President. As you may know, on February 1, President Obama submitted his proposed budget for fiscal year (FY) 2011 to Congress for consideration. One proposed cut could be disastrous for motorized trail users.

Buried in the nearly 200-page document is one paragraph dealing with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Capital Improvement and Maintenance (CIM) program. The CIM program funds improvements, maintenance and the operation of U.S. Forest Service roads, trails and recreation infrastructure. To view more details about the proposed cut to the CIM budget, please click here

If you attend the meeting, please urge Senator Grassley to oppose any cut in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's CIM budget.

For details on how to prepare for the town hall meeting, please visit the AMA Get Involved page and select "Communicate with Elected Officials."

Thanks for your support. If you would like to see other motorcycle-related issues of concern you may wish to bring up with Senator Grassley, please visit our Rapid Response Center.
