District 10’s meeting was called to order by District Coordinator
Doug Smith on February 19 at the VFW in
Fort Dodge. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and we had a moment of
silence to honor our lost brothers and sisters. Roll call of officers was taken
with Doug, Ron, DL, Jean, Sheila, Melissa, Theresa, Mark, Jess, Larry, Harry,
Ginny, Barb, Scott and Don being present. Dean was not excused since we decided
since just because he was off on a tropical vacation and he didn’t invite us to
go with he should not be excused. We welcomed guests Sean, Bear, Theresa and
Steve Schillmoeller.
Sexy-tary’s Report: Jean read the minutes from last meeting.
Jess wanted the minutes amended since he had been present. Jess made a motion to accept with the
amendment; Rhonda Summers seconded; motion carried.
Treasurers Report: Sheila indicated a check had been written to
McCubbin Trophy for the Pool and Dart Tournament plaques and to the print shop
for calendars and event cards. There had been a deposit to the General Fund,
the Downed Biker fund and Jerry Dahl made a motion to the Toy Run account.
Doyle Carlson made a motion to accept; Brent Shipman seconded; motion carried.
Membership: Theresa indicated we had 71 members present
and 4 guests

auction items and food for the chili feed following the meeting. She reminded
everyone of the events;
February 26 Bowling Tournament
against District 8 in Pocahontas
March 5 Dinner Run at J’s Feed

March 19-Meeting and Bowling
Tournament at
She asked for suggestions for
the April 2 Dinner run and it was decided to have it at the Double L Saloon in
Legislative: Mark indicated that there are a few bills
that have been introduced that we are watching; SF 165 which is a follow up to
our Right of Way enhanced penalty legislation. It is a bill that if you have an
accident causing injury the officer has the option to check “court appearance
require” and it provides a way to require you to go to court for the violation.
ABATE of
MRF; Jess indicated that MRF Heartland STEAM is
March 25 in
Webmaster: Scott indicated he had nothing to report
PR; Barb hoped everyone had received their
first quarterly newsletter by email and if you didn’t get yours please get with
Doug or Barb after the meeting so they can get your email address. She also
indicated that 93 of the newsletters had been printed up and sent to our
supporting businesses. She indicated the next one would have three months worth
of events and she was going to ask the supporting businesses to post the events
at their businesses. Ginny indicated it would be 10.00 dollars for us to set up
a booth at the Webster County Flea Markets. It was discussed about the only
weekend we didn’t have anything going on was March 13 and 14. Larry made a
motion to rent a spot, Don Barnes seconded; motion carried. Harry indicated
that if anyone had anything they wanted to sell they could bring it to his
place and he would put it out there that weekend. We will also be setting up
membership info and etc to give to people
Assistants Report: Ron reminded everyone to keep their eyes
and ears open as far as bills that could come up this legislative session. DL
reminded all the people on his two bowling teams that next weekend is the
bowling tournament and we could use cheerleaders for the teams to kick D8’s
butt next week.
STR: DL reported that our district had delivered
three STR presentations since January to a total of 91 people. He thanked
everyone who showed up and helped with the presentation
Old
Business: Doug just reminded everyone that Bike Night will be starting along
with the riding season and for everyone to be careful
New Business; DL reported that the state office had
decided to just have Scott Deeter oversee PAC at a state level so there was no
need to send in your name if you were thinking of applying for that position. A
discussion was then brought up about the number of supporting businesses
putting up signs “no firearms allowed”. Both sides were defended using the same
argument; if we are a rights organization aren’t these business’ infringing on
our rights by not allowing us to carry a weapon if we have the proper permit
and on the other side of the coin don’t the business owners have rights to run
their businesses the way they see fit.
Announcements; Jerry Dahl wanted to thank everyone for
their support when he recently lost his parent. DL reminded everyone of the Motorcycle Safety Forum April 29 in
Doug
thanked the VFW for hosting our meeting and the chili feed and auction. He also
thanked the membership for attending.
Respectfully Submitted
